I moved to Frederick County in 1996. I have two children. My son is 14 years old and my daughter is 11 years old. They keep me pretty busy with their activities but love every moment of it. It was my intention to earn a degree in fine arts. However after my second semester as a student a professor pointed out my natural abilities to work with children. It was then that I decided to earn my B.A. in Secondary Education specializing in Art for Primary through 12th grade. My first two years at FSU I was an Early Childhood Education major which was where I learned about the Montessori philosophy and found it very interesting! I have over nine years of experience working with children from four months old to six year olds. In 2013, I graduated from Urbana High School where I taught in the Kiddie Hawks program as a lead teacher for preschool children. I spent two years designing activities for the children based on their individual abilities. One of my favorite parts was using music and arts (my passions) to create interactive atmosphere and teach songs as well as dances that children performed each day. I also completed my 135 hours required for teaching preschoolers, toddlers, and infants, required by the state of Maryland, from FCC. I live with my husband and my daughter, who has moved back home after graduating from University of Maryland last year. I like to travel, spend time with my family, and play with our two cats. I enjoy working with children and the opportunity to experience Montessori methods. Next year I will be attending McDaniel college in Westminster, Maryland, playing for the soccer team, and pursuing a degree in elementary education. I hope to gain experience in Montessori training to transfer to college learning and in my future. I am a support staff throughout Meadows Montessori and truly enjoy bonding with each and every child.
