Anita Leamy

Infant Room

Hello, my name is Anita Leamy. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maine, Orono, and a Primary Directress diploma from the AMI Washington Montessori Institute, which qualifies me to work with children aged 3 to 6 years old. I completed the 90 hours for Maryland Early Childhood/ Childcare requirement from Carroll Community College in 2014, and received the Maryland EXCELS credentialing level 3 in 2015. From 2013 to 2017 I was a Carroll County Library Associate Outreach Substitute in which I drove the Story Time vans to providers of childcare and schools and presented an interactive story time for preschoolers. For the past three years, I have been the Head Pre-K Teacher for Rhymes & Reasons near my home in Eldersburg. My past experience includes teaching Montessori in a primary class and then at home with my children and others in the community of Greenbelt. When I moved to Carroll County in 1998, I began working with seniors and vulnerable adults in a variety of settings as Companion and Activities Coordinator until my work began again with children.

I am a grandmother of two preschoolers who live in England, UK, with my daughter and her husband. My other daughter is finishing a business degree at George Mason in Virginia this year. I love reading, writing, walking and the natural world. I just adopted from sanctuaries three male cats to amuse my older female—these are my only home companions now! My home parish is St Joseph Catholic Community in which I am an active member. I hope my work with your children will provide the link they need to lifelong joy of learning. As a heart-centered teacher at Meadows Montessori, I want the message we send to the future to be one of hope, joy, and love.
